Fifty years has passed since the “change”; the world is now not as it once was. For Quentin Fielding, life just got a bit crazier. Waking up from a fifty year sleep, Quentin finds himself, along with his friends, in a world that is unfamiliar to him. The world changed by a deranged cult and now Quentin has found the man responsible for it all-his father. He never expects to meet Zoe, a woman with a potty mouth and lush body that calls to him like no one else has before. Now he races against the clock to find where this man is hiding and to destroy him. For if he survives that then he has a chance to be with the woman who has come to mean much more to him and moves him like no other.

ABANDON THE NIGHT is the third book in this stunning new paranormal series that takes you to the edge and back again within the pages. The story starts by introducing the reader to Quent’s father, Parris Fielding and the events that happened several years before the “change”. I really felt for Quent as he dealt with a sadistic father and you get the sense of the conflicts within him that continues sixty years later after he wakes up with a power that frankly scares the crap out of him. Zoë is the perfect foil to Quent. She is one smart mouthed, feisty woman who is also lonely like Quent. She goes toe-to-toe to him and doesn’t look back even after she finds herself drawn to the stunningly handsome man. Quent finds himself settled inside by Zoë and it scares him even worse than the mad world he lives in now. Both characters complement each other and you get to understand both points of views throughout the story.

Ms. Ware delivers a wonderful engrossing story that I finished within a few hours since I just had to find out what happens next. The writing is tight, fast paced and we meet some new characters that move the story along nicely. I do have to recommend reading the first two books- BEYOND THE NIGHT & EMBRACE THE NIGHT ETERNAL-in order to understand how Quentin and Zoë ended up where they are in ABANDON THE NIGHT. Ms. Ware is a wonderful storyteller and one I hope will continue the Envy Chronicles series. I would love to see more stories about this fascinating world she created and hope she doesn’t keep us waiting long for them. If you enjoy a highly addicting series, then grab the Envy Chronicles books and settle in for hours of reading pleasure. Joss Ware is fast becoming one of my favorite authors to enjoy. Sheer pleasure is found within the pages of this author’s books.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
