LAID BARE by Lauren Dane

Publisher: Berkeley Heat Date published: August 4th, 2009 ISBN: 978-0-425-22971-2 Contemporary BDSM Ménage Erotic Romance Paperback Reviewed by Dawn Obtained by: Self-purchase Ten years before, Todd Keenan threw away the love of a woman who brought out the inner desires he had kept in check for years. Now he is back and determined to woo Erin again even as things heat up between them. Can he make Erin fall in love with him all over again and show her that he won’t walk away again? Erin Brown was provocative, wild and loved Todd Keenan with all her passion until he tossed her aside years before. Now Erin has to deal with the one man who is able to get her blood flowing hot and heavy while still dealing with the after effects of a tragic event that happened years before. Can Erin trust Todd enough to hold not only to her heart but her soul as well? LAID BARE is a story of new beginnings, love-wild and full of fire and forgiveness even as you try to pick up the shattered pieces of a life you no longer recognize. I haven’t read a book by Ms. Dane in a long time and this one intrigued me from the back blurb. Once I started it, I couldn’t put it down. It was sexy, hot and made me smile, laugh and cry as I read Erin and Todd’s story. Ms, Dane captivates the reader with her multi-dimensional characters, hot sex scenes and an emotional story that tugs at the heart. Each page opened up more of Erin’s pain and her ongoing recovery even as she finds herself falling for not one but two hunky men. LAID BARE is a story that will leave you breathless even as you try to cool off with ice, a cold shower or your honey. Meet Erin Brown, a woman who plays bass, has tattoos, piercing and is as wild as she is provocative yet once she meets her next door neighbor, Officer Todd Keenan, she finds the love she craves but it wasn’t meant to be at that time. Ten years pass since Todd broke her heart and Erin tries to pick up the pieces from a tragedy years before. With Todd back in town, can she trust the one man who has the power to break her heart again even as she craves his touch? Todd is a man shamed by his desire for BDSM and thinks he needs to enjoy vanilla sex in order to be happy. A white hot fling with Erin shook him to the core and he ran-from Erin and from himself. Now back in town years later, he is determined to have Erin and he finds something much more than even he anticipates in his pursuit of the one woman that completes him-mind, body and soul. All I got to say is WOW! These two had so much chemistry it was amazing that the book didn’t combust in my hands while I was reading this. They say opposites attract and this was no exception. You got wild and freaky Erin, Stoic and sexy Todd and then you have Ben-the one wild card that makes this story even all the more interesting and hotter. What woman doesn’t love two hot sexy guys loving every inch of her? Lots of wonderful secondary characters kept the story flowing smoothly and this is an author who creates such memorable characters, I had to find out if any will get a story in the future on her website. LAID BARE is a story that will tug at your heart while revving up your desire to a fever pitch. Ms. Dane is a talented author with a knack of creating complex, emotional, highly sexual stories that will captivate you till the very end. As I finished the last page of LAID BARE, I was cheering that their unconventional happily ever after was happening and that these three found a relationship that works for them in many ways. Ms. Dane is one author I plan to grab again when I am back at the bookstore because I am dying to know if Erin or Todd’s siblings will find their happily ever after in future books. If you enjoy a highly emotional, heart pounding, sexual story that will drive not just your desire but steal your heart as well, then grab LAID BARE. I am adding Ms. Dane to my auto buy list and look forward to many hours of reading pleasure in the future from this talented author. This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
