Patience Emmalina Dare is a rare beauty. She is persued by men wherever she goes. They preen and peck around her, each demanding her attention. But poor Patience is tired of it all. She cannot find a man that excites her and she doesn’t want to become the pawn of anyone. Then, she shares a kiss with her brother-in-law and passion awakens.
Matthew Morgan Hawkmore has vowed never to fall to the controls of love again. He has already been betrayed by a woman he thought loved him and now he wants his revenge. But, when he sees Patience, he is unable to resist her and he knows that he is the one who can ignite the fire within her.
Patience needs to submit to a man and Matthew needs to give in to his feelings about Patience.
Let me first tell you, dear reader, that Patience is not your usual historical romance with a light, maybe even sensual romance. No, this one is highly erotic with elements of BDSM in it and the bedroom door is wide open. Now I’ve gotten that out of the way, Lisa Valdez really gets into her characters and draws her readers in with a handsome, dark hero and a strong-willed, independent heroine. Here we have a man who is so blinded by revenge he risks the only sunshine he has in his life to carry it out. Patience is that sunshine and this author weaves a web of erotic passion between the two of them. There are some secondary characters and I especially liked Aunt Matty who gave the story some comic relief. If you like your historical, with a large dose of erotic romance then I can highly recommend this book.
This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
