Single mom, Darci Taylor and her son arrive at River’s End, Colorado for a fresh start. Unfortunately, trouble seems to be dogging their heels. The last thing this woman needs is the complication of getting involved with sexy single dad, Jordan Drake. The man has his own tribulations in life.

She isn’t at her best when they first meet, what with fainting on the job while manning the reception desk of the hospital. Dr Drake tends to her and they each find themselves unwillingly drawn.

This was an interesting read that showcased some of the things that every partner and parent might have nightmares over. Loss, mistakes, anger and helplessness all play a part and though Ms Mott brings realism to the story she also brings levity and hope. Neither hero nor heroine has had a particularly smooth time. As we follow the book’s twists and turns, we want all the more for their worries to be surmounted.

There were some things which frustrated while one read. A primary one was the indecisiveness of the hero on the course of the relationship with Darci. Also, he did little to prove the heroine’s fears were unfounded. Due to this, the end when it came seemed less than plausible.

The children were middle school aged and though each had suffered horrible experiences it was hard to much like either of them. This did have the benefit of making Darci’s frustrations with Chris ring true.

I might not revisit RANCH AT RIVER’S END, but I would be curious to read another of this author’s books.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of the book.

This book sounds like it has some depth to the characterisation, which isn't all that common sometimes. I might have to give it a try.
