Charles Garrett loves art and his passion has him owning an up & coming art gallery in London. After a few days away on business, he returns to his gallery and walks straight into a murder scene. Paolo Valero is dead and Charles is at a loss at how this happened in his gallery no less. On the trail of trying to figure it all out, Charles finds mystery surrounds Paolo’s past and as more suspects emerge, Charles has to figure out if he has fallen in love with a murderer or not.
BLINDED BY OUR EYES is a first person story that took a little getting used to as I primarily read third person stories. But overall, Ms. London crafted a story that will chill you to the bone as she takes the reader on a journey through the art world and into a crime of passion. With each page, I was drawn into Charles’s life and found myself wondering if he would ever figure out what happened that night in question. With the right amount of seething emotions, tight writing, fascinating characters and a romance that may or may not be advisable, Ms. London delivers a masterfully told story to get lost in during a snowy afternoon. There were some wonderful descriptions of art and I was fascinated at how passionate those in this field are about art in general.
Meet Charles Garrett, a young man who loves art and though he didn’t make it as an artist, he found his niche in running/owning a gallery for up and coming artists who were unique to the art world and weren’t quite mainstream yet. Charles is basically the narrator throughout the story and I found his character quite likable and was fascinated in his career in art. Ms. London delivers complex and intriguing characters to root for and in her latest book, BLINDED BY OUR EYES, this was no exception. Well rounded and with hints of vulnerabilities, Ms. London’s characters come to life amid the pages and the reader is transfixed by the subtle textures each character gave to the story. The secondary characters kept the story flowing smoothly and had me wondering if there will be any follow up stories set around this gallery in the future.
BLINDED BY OUR EYES is a well crafted story that will have you guessing till the very end who the murderer is and what the story was behind Paolo’s life. Ms. London is a talented author who weaves her spell around her readers with each and every story she writes. Her new title through Carina Press shows her depth and characterization and one I found to be highly enjoyable this snowy afternoon. If you are looking for a mystery GBLT story to enjoy, I highly recommend BLINDED BY OUR EYES for you to enjoy. I look forward to more from this wonderful author in the future.
