Colonel Bartholomew James, member of the Adventure club, is the sole survivor of the massacre of his unit and he is suffering from survivor guilt and PTSD. Due to this he sometimes seems rude and grumpy.

Teresa Weller is the complete opposite of him, because she is the debutante favorite of the ton and in all ways an absolute proper lady. A match between them seems to be unrealistic, but together they fight to redeem his damaged reputation. Unfortunately that isn’t an easy task, because very soon they discover that someone wants to kill him.

This book isn’t one of Ms. Enoch’s best, but still a nice read, if you focus more on the hero and not the heroine. She isn’t such an interesting character as he is and her behavior drove me sometimes crazy because she is a spoiled brat, but as a team they are good together. The hero is the typical tortured/wounded soul that speaks to the heart of the female readers and it is he who the saves the book in my opinion.

Another aspect that speaks in favor of the book are the secondary characters, especially the Duke of Sommerset, he is definitely the reason why I will continue to read this specific series.

I am really curious how the Adventure club series will continue with RULES OF ENGAGEMENT, which was released in November 2010.

If you are looking for an enjoyable romance, than A LADY’S GUIDE TO IMPROPER BEHAVIOR is the book for you.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
