Joy participates in a ‘Goddess invoking’ ceremony with her friend Roxy and sees a vision of her true love. But this man could put her soul in danger. All she wants is some romance in her life. Roxy wants to go to the Czech Republic and Joy goes with her, where she suddenly gets visions of a dark, handsome stranger. When they visit a Goth fair, Joy meets Raphael Griffith St. John who is head of security and looks very much like her dream man. Roxy wants to find out if the vampire myth is real or not, but it seems that vampires are very interested in Joy. Of course, danger pops it’s head up and there is a murder to be solved. In the end, Joy has to decide to keep her soul or give it to an immortal.

I read this book when it was first published and enjoyed it very much. Katie MacAlister adds a lot of humor, so while you read your mouth will naturally turn up. Since this first reading, I have read many vampire romances and now, after having the opportunity to read this again I still found it very amusing if somewhat contrived. Joy and her friend are witty, sometimes silly and don’t grow much throughout the story. I love witty sarcasm and opinionated women, but sometimes I think an author can go overboard and this one does a bit. Her love scenes are certainly steamy and the overall plot interesting enough to keep me turning the pages. Frankly, I am not sure why this and the other one in the series are being reprinted. But, if anyone missed them before, then it certainly wouldn’t hurt to pick them up now. Ms MacAlister writes a vampire story that will certainly entertain.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
