Suzette is an heiress with a large dowry. But she’s not looking for a husband with a lot of money, no, she needs a husband who is poor and who will let her have access to it so she can pay off her father’s debts. When she meets Daniel Woodrow, it looks like she has found her dream man. He is not only handsome and titled, but he is even poorer than she imagined. Daniel however has not been truthful, because he is not as poor as Suzette thinks. He is tired of fortune hunting mothers and decided to say he is poor to stop them from annoying him. He is happy that Suzette, a beautiful and lovely lady seems to be happy about his poor state. However, there is a villain who wants to stop the union and Daniel needs to keep his white lie going in order to find true happiness.

You can’t help but love Lynsay Sands. She writes an exciting sexy historical that keeps her readers coming back for more. I’ve read other reviews of this book and many were disappointed that it seemed the story was a re-hash of a previous book THE COUNTESS. But I loved this story. I loved the characters, as they were well crafted. Suzette is an out-spoken woman who doesn’t really want to get married, but is desperate to help her father out of his predicament. Daniel is loyal, a real friend and just gorgeous. The romance is sexy and sensual too. Daniel’s mother is a character of her own, but you can’t help but like this no-nonsense woman. I loved the dialogue and this book had me smiling. This was a great read that I couldn’t put down and had me turning the pages frantically. This was a quick, humorous read with some excitement and a new villain.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
