Eileen Grosvenor is haunted in her dreams by a man who can take the shape of a dragon. She never anticipates that that dream lover is a real flesh and breathing man who stirs in her memories of her past long forgotten or her part in the coming war between the Pyr, the shape-shifting warriors and the Slayers, who want to rule the world.

Erik Sorenson was so focused on leading the Pyr that when an ancient relic reveals itself, he knows he has to have it at whatever the cost for it can turn the tide in this war and save thousands of humans. Meeting Eileen was something he thought would be easy-charm her, grab the relic and leave. WRONG! What happens is this firestorm that puts Erik in the cross hairs. Can he help Eileen remember the past and her identity before it’s too late even as he is conflicted between duty and love? For unless Erik and Eileen find a way to figure out the past they will have no future together.

I absolutely love, love, love this series. Ms. Cooke always delivers a spellbinding ride with each of the Dragonfire novels and KISS OF FATE is no exception. Here we finally get the Pyr leader’s Erik’s story and its one wild roller coaster of a ride. This is an author who knows her series and her characters intimately. The characters alone are delightful, multi-dimensional and had me sighing over in delight. Ms. Cooke delivers a strong story in this series and KISS OF FATE keeps the series alive and well. The story flows smoothly with a few twists I didn’t see coming, a main set of characters you can root for and an enduring love worth fighting for.

Eileen is having disturbing dreams and waking up with wet hair among other items caught in it. Dreams…that is all they were until dreams turn to reality when sexy, mysterious Erik walks into her life. From then on these two connect soul deep and the reader finds out Erik’ s past as he helps Eileen remember her identity. The question that is center throughout the story is can a dragon believes he gets a second chance at love? The author does a great job of incorporating that into the storyline and the characters Erik and Eileen are perfect together. Their love for one another once they got past their fears was beautiful and you got a sense they were in it for the long haul. The secondary characters were also excellent and kept the story moving nicely.

KISS OF FATE is a fast paced, roller coaster of a story that leaves you breathless in the end. It’s a perfect series to enjoy on any given day and will leave you longing for more dragons to devour. With each book I read of this series, it just gets better and better. Lots of character development and fast paced storylines with each book have me hooked. I am just eager to see who will be next in the pyr to find their mate and firestorm. Deborah Cooke is a talented author and one I enjoy immensely. Get ready for a dragon that will steal your heart and leave you longing to meet a pyr of your own.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.

Thanks for the great review!

I have to admit, Erik is one of my faves of my dragon dudes.

Okay, well, maybe they're all my faves in different ways. :-)
