Ellie is a New York dog walker and she has the special ability of being able to talk to her charges and they talk back to her. One of Ellie’s favorite clients is Rob Chesney. She’s just discovered that he’s a drag Queen and she drags her NYPD boyfriend, Sam, to one of his shows when she gets free tickets. She thinks that when he sees Rob dressed as a woman it will embarrass him. But Rob is discovered backstage with a weapon in his hand and a dead body on the floor. Sam has to take him in but Ellie believes that Rob is innocent. Rob’s Poodle-Chihuahua mix named Bitsy saw the whole thing, but she’s in shock. Still, Ellie and her four-legged friends are determined to get to the bottom of the mystery.

This is a fun story. I loved the antics between Ellie and her dogs. For me, this was something very different and so quite refreshing. I found the cover to be a little misleading. It looks more like a chic-lit but don’t be put off if this is not your genre, you’ll find some great characters, two-legged and four-legged and a good mystery. I really liked Ellie. She is someone you’d like to meet, talk to, have coffee with and you can see yourself becoming good friends. The relationship between Ellie and her dog Rudy is often very comical but totally believable. Rudy is not afraid to say what he feels and sees and is sometimes not very nice to her boyfriend Sam. He has a few funny nicknames for him. I would certainly like to read more books from this author.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
