Laila Riley thought her relationship was fun and a little naughty…until her father got wind of it and it cost her everything she ever held dear. Laila dumps Matthew O’Brien over his objections thinking it would be easy to move on. She just never counted on the O’Brien family to start their meddling. Now Laila is roped into being with them for the holidays in Ireland and trying to resist Matthew is harder than she expected. Will there be a holiday miracle for Laila and Matthew or will Laila run from the one man who shows her the woman she can be?

I have got to admit, I absolutely adore Ms. Woods’s Chesapeake Shores series. The characters are so life like and enjoyable plus the reader can really relate to them-warts and all. What really made this latest book so memorable was how the many characters in this series come together in the lush land of Ireland at Christmas. It was so magical and though there are a few sub-plots going on, you don’t feel cheated at all with the relationship of Laila and Matthew finding their way.Ms. Woods has a way with words that leaves me breathless. She is a masterful storyteller who knows how to keep the reader glued to the pages and left eager for more. The story flowed smoothly and at a nice, even pace that I got to see how all my favorite characters were doing and I can’t wait to see what happens in the final book as the author leaves the readers guessing what will happen for a few of the characters.

Laila Riley thought she was having a fling with the town playboy, Matthew O’Brien. What she didn’t expect was her feelings to deepen nor the fact she had to choose between her career at the family bank or Matthew when her family found out. Now, with the entire O’Brien family around her, Laila will have to figure out once and for all who she is, for Matthew has a plan to win the woman he loves back. He is determined to pull out all the stops to show, once and for all, that Laila is the one he needs and wants. Matthew never anticipated falling for straight-laced Laila but she completed him in every way. Now time is right for him to get all he’s desired if he can get Laila to believe in herself and the love they share. I have got to admit…I love these two together. They complement one another even with a slight age difference and Laila’s parental disapproval. The many varied characters are quite relatable that I could actually picture them on the street in my neighborhood. The secondary characters keep the story moving nicely as well.

AN O’BRIEN FAMILY CHRISTMAS is a perfect story to enjoy at the holiday season but I do recommend reading the entire series from the beginning to understand some of the moments that were mentioned here plus you get the full O’Brien effect as well. I love Ms. Woods’s wonderful stories and hope we won’t have to wait too long for the final book in this mesmerizing series. If you enjoy a family full of varied personalities, a dose of stubbornness and lots of love for one another, than you will really enjoy the Chesapeake Shores series.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
