Jennifer Baxter is the inspiration behind the small craft beer company Brick Street Brewery. Sean Garrison is one of the two owners of Garrison Brothers brewing, a much larger company known for doing whatever it takes to get what they want. When the two get up close and personal at a beer convention it was inevitable that more than beer would be bubbling.

But when the Brick Street Brewery turns down a buy-out offer by Garrison Brothers Brewing, things really begin to get nasty. And complicated. And messy.

The build-up of tension in this story is absolutely excellent. I kept wanting to scream at them, “Don’t do that, do this”. There are some truly nail-biting scenes, that are cleverly intermingled with some more lighter-hearted ones, and plenty of sexual drama and tension too. Many of the outcomes are fairly inevitable, or at least guessable, but it doesn’t really matter. Ms. Crowe takes the reader on a roller coaster ride with a bunch of wonderful characters, and all the reader can do is hang on tight and enjoy the unfolding of the story.

The main characters are all fully developed and multilayered, and even the minor ones add color and drama as they play their parts. Many people will be tapping their toes and ordering Ms. Crowe to hurry up and write Dylan LeDuc’s story, and probably one for Sean’s twin brother Liam, as well.

A great story and an excellent read.
