Sherwood Smith is back to the world of Debrenica and the California girl, Kim, who finds herself longing for the land she left behind and one person who stole her heart. Thrown into the world of nobility, politics and family drama, has Kim wanting to run for the hills but Kim has a choice-accept her life as granddaughter to a princess and find a way to fight for her family, kingdom and for her heart. Or will she run away and in the process deny her heart’s desires.

I haven’t read Coronets & Steel yet but found BLOOD SPIRITS to be a fun story to get lost in. The author does a great job in keeping the action up and there is an amazing cast of characters to enjoy. The characters are written in a way we get to see their inner hearts and souls which was a plus for me. It was nice to see them grow with the storyline and not be a caricature of themselves. This is an author who has delicately fused modern reality with the European elegance and old world charm to the degree she has created an engrossing tale to fall in love with.

The story picks up after the end of book one and the reader finds answers from the first book’s storyline even as you may ask a few more with this one. This story was a gem to read and one I fell in love with. The fast paced storyline with a few twists that left me gasping, a cast of characters to enjoy immensely and a sense that this author was tying up all the loose ends to give her readers a satisfying read. There were a few snappy moments in the dialogue that had me giggling at times as well.

If you enjoy a fun tale of a modern California girl who finds herself part of European nobility then grab BLOOD SPIRITS and settle in for one fun ride from start to finish. I am eager to try Coronets and Steel to see how Kim’s story began. This author found a new reader and I can’t wait to see what else this author has in store for the readers in the future.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
