On Prom night Luke made passionate love to Meri and they were incredibly happy. But what happened next has changed him forever. She was snatched out of his arms. He was left half dead. Her parents have always believed he killed her. Sixteen years later he is still searching everywhere for her, convinced one day she’ll return to him.

In the meantime his nightmares and dreams of her have been used to create a dark graphic novel in which she’s the heroine. But on the anniversary of that night, she comes to him.

This story packs a lot into a mere 7000 words. There’s lots of hot sex, vampires, love, romantic hints, remembrances of the past, and just enough background information to intrigue the reader and make them demand more stories in this world.

There’s a couple of head-banging POV changes and a few dangling modifiers, but mostly there’s a great story of two people who get together after a long time apart, with hints, secrets, and enough going on to make the reader wonder what really happened and what is false that they’re just telling each other. An interesting twist indeed.

The author’s biography is worth reading for a taste of her wild imagination as well as an explanation for any technical errors the reader might find in the book.

Ms. Scott has an amazing imagination, a nice line in characters, a good sense of tension, the ability to write hot inventive sex scenes, and excellent world building for such a brief story. I’m sure her editors will work on her technical skills so we can keep reading her stories.
