Romantic Suspense

Maya Banks’ seventh KGI novel, FORGED IN STEELE, is a steamy mix of strong emotions and surprises.

KGI team leader Steele is devoted to his job and has no time for emotional entanglements. But somehow Dr. Maren Scofield, a mission doctor that has helped Steele’s team from time to time, has gotten under his skin.  Now danger is at Maren’s doorstep and Steele has made it his mission to see her safe.

Maya Banks’ FORGED IN STEELE has everything a good romantic suspense should have, strong characters with great chemistry who have to overcome some dicey situations with bad guys before living happily ever after.  Yet something is missing.  Steele certainly meets the tall, dark and handsome strong military type requirement.  Maren is an independent woman helping people in need in a foreign country.  She is easy to like and it isn’t hard to imagine her attraction to Steele.  What is a little harder to swallow is Steele’s sudden announcement out of nowhere, after several encounters between the characters where Steele has spoken only a few sparse words to Maren, that he is attracted to her and plans to have sex with her.  However, the chemistry is there.  The minor characters, the other members of Steele’s KGI team, are a bit on the saccharin side and do little to add to the story.  Yet, the dicey situations with bad guys are certainly present and the tension continues to build.  And in the end, readers will be happy to see these two lovers get their happily ever after.

Though FORGED IN STEELE may not be the best of the seven KGI stories in print, it is still a hot and steamy romantic suspense that is sure to find its way into the summer reading pile of many genre fans.
