Sari Thorne
witnesses a murder and is taken into protective custody. That doesn’t slow the
bad guys down much, but another man rescues him, and then kidnaps him. Maxwell
Consenza is the Alpha of a pack of panther shapeshifters and instantly
recognizes Sari as a Chekota Breeder. He takes him to his pack lands in the
Yosemite forest. But before he can explain everything to Sari trouble has
followed them there.
The beginning of this book is very intriguing and really drags the reader right into the world and the main characters’ lives. Ms. Hagen is an award-winning, multi-published, highly professional author and it shows. Long before I realized I was reading a genre that wasn’t really what I’d expected, I was so hooked by the fast pace of the action and the two main characters that I couldn’t stop reading. For a start I really didn’t like Sari’s name. A tiny, stupid thing I know. But long before it had time to grate on my nerves I was so intrigued with the plot there was no way I’d put the book down. Besides, the author has written so many books she’s probably used up all the “cool” names in half a dozen baby name books.
I really enjoyed some of the twists on the way things usually happen. The entire concept of MM romance where one man impregnates the other is interesting and I like the way the author dealt with it.
An excellent fast-paced story with two unusual but engaging main characters set in a fascinating world.
This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
