Griffin Reid has no great memories of Sunshine, Idaho. To come back to his hometown is not something he wants to do but he needs to recover from war injuries and now he is stuck in Sunshine. Meeting Kate Evans again is the last thing he expected but as he gets to know the fourth grade teacher, he finds himself falling for her. The question is can these two build on the sparks flying between them or will it all fade away?
Jill Shalvis writes an emotional yet romantic story of a wounded badass hero who finds the woman for him is one who he least expects. The Animal Magnetism series has a few hits and misses for this reader but RUMOR HAS IT definitely is one of my favorites in the series so far. Griffin and Kate are well written characters that have all the vulnerabilities, strengths and more humans have and fairly leap off the pages. The author does an amazing job in conveying Griffin’s fight against his attraction to his sister’s friend but finding himself closer to the flame that is Kate. She just brings something to this ‘gruff, take no prisoner’s’ man that I just loved to pieces. The scenes with Griffin and Kate were smoking hot and the secondary characters helped move the storyline nicely with no bumps or head scratching moments, which I am thankful for.
Kate Evans is by far my favorite heroine. She is funny, clumsy and downright down to earth that I just fell in love with her. When you add her to surly sexy Griffin well you got combustion! These two characters are just pure perfection together and I loved how Kate’s openness, her ability to love and more soothed the rough edges of Special Ops Soldier, Griffin Reid. Their acceptance of one another, quirks and all was beautifully written and I just melted during those scenes. There is something so romantic and heart stopping wonderful when a man accepts you one hundred percent. I just melted in a puddle after reading those scenes.
RUMOR HAS IT is a fun, fast paced story that will leave you breathless in the end. The writing is tight, story flows smoothly and the characters are well written. If you are just getting into the Animal Magnetism series or revisiting old friends from the series, this is one book I highly recommend to readers looking for sexy alpha heroes who get tamed by the heroines they fall for. I am eager to see where this author goes in the series and hope it isn’t a long wait in between books.
