Rick Anthis, of Greek heritage, is a Trooper, and his husband Gabriel Thorkelson, a Scandinavian, is a Deputy. Their lives are changed forever when there’s a murder and kidnapped child in their neighborhood.

This is a short story, only 10k, and part of the “Men in Uniform” anthology. But it still has a plot and plenty of drama, action, adventure and suspense. It also has two hot sex scenes, so the author has done an amazing job at getting the most possible value out of his word count.

All the main characters are three dimensional and we feel their emotions strongly during the book. There are a couple of moments of lighthearted and witty dialogue as well, which I also enjoyed. However, it’s the action and drama which predominantly draw the reader along with the two main characters.

The very beginning of the book is a fraction pedestrian, but I understand the author was trying to show a lot of background as fast as possible. I didn’t one hundred percent accept one of the early premises of the book, but if the reader can take that with a grain of salt, or just overlook it, the story flows well and is well worth reading. The ending is very neat as well. Well done.

Jon Keys doesn’t have very many published books out yet, but more are scheduled for release later this year and I’ll be keeping an eye out for them.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
