When violence and murder erupts on the tropical island of Maui, sleuth Jessica Fletcher and retired detective Mike Kane, who are guest lecturing on community involvement in police investigations on Maui, to figure out who killed their colleague, Mala Kapule and why.

What an intriguing book to read. The authors do a great job in capturing the lush and tropical scenery that makes up this Hawaiian paradise and the cozy mystery that set the story was interesting if a bit overwhelming with descriptions of Maui and the Hawaiian traditions, etc. I could have done without of all the descriptions of fauna and flowers though. What really intrigued me was how the authors devised a believable scenario for Ms. Fletcher to be there and from there went into the mystery she had to solve. The characters were quite intriguing and though this was my first Murder, She Wrote book I have read, it hit the mystery spot I was in the mood for. It is well plotted out and has some twists that keep the reader intrigued to the end. What I didn’t care for was how I was expecting a little more balance between the mystery aspect to the overall story and characters. The scenes of Maui were well written and descriptive yet felt like I was missing a bit of the overall picture at times. The characters were exceedingly interesting and well written. I loved how the authors combined some interesting characters into the storyline and I felt they kept the story moving along at a nice even pace.

ALOHA BETRAYED is a clue based cozy mystery that will thrill and entertain the readers who enjoy this sort of thing or even a new reader like myself to the series. If you enjoyed watching the TV Show, Murder, She Wrote, or just like mysteries in general, then you just might enjoy ALOHA BETRAYED. It is full of interesting and breathless Hawaiian scenery that takes your breath away as well as deliver a mystery that you just can not help but try to solve along side sleuth Jessica Fletcher.

This is a perfect beach or summer read to get lost in on a lazy afternoon. Just make sure to grab a fruity drink and settle in for some fun as you solve the case along side Jessica and Mike.
