Miss Clemintina Smyth is the newest graduate from Miss Debenham’s Finishing School is just a little worried her innocence will impede her search for a husband. One that is wealthy enough to save her family from debtor’s prison. So she decides to get skilled with seduction and turns to Richard Eversham to teach her how to be everything a man could want in a woman. But Richard might have selfish motives in helping Clementina. He finds her intriguing and delightful plus she is just the perfect person to help him trap the man who killed his brother. But when the game Richard plays increases the danger towards Tina & himself, well lets just say Richard is going to have to figure out what is more important: the revenge he is after or the love growing between himself and Clementina.

I have read one of this series books before and loved it. SIN WITH A SCOUNDREL was no exception. Even though it is part of the husband hunters’ club series, it can be read as a stand alone book. It has all my favorite aspects in a historical romance: a rakish hero, a heroine who isn’t a wallflower, mystery, action/adventure and a passion that will not be denied. Ms. Bennett delivers a great story to lose yourself into on a lazy Sunday afternoon and I couldn’t put this one down. I just had to know what will happen for Richard and Tina. The writing is tight, story moves at a nice even pace and the characters just hum with energy throughout the book. It was the characters that just thrilled me.

Clementina, or Tina, is intriguing, not a heroine who needs rescuing all the time and willing to do whatever it takes to win the heart of the man of her dreams. Richard is a rakish sort of hero whose motive in helping Clementina is not as pure as she may think. He is determined to have his revenge and in the beginning sees Tina as his way in getting what he wants while enjoying teaching her the art of seduction. These two just popped for me in this book. They were a perfect foil for one another and I got to admit, I was rooting for these two to end up together in the end. They worked so well together. As lessons in sin turned to lessons in seduction, both Tina and Richard fin d that once the heart is engaged, well it will take more than either of them know to solve the mystery and defeat the danger that stalks them both.

SIN WITH A SCOUNDREL is a perfect beach read that will transport you to another time and place. The characters are well written, enjoyable and steal your heart by the end of chapter two. I need to go back and see what other Husband Hunters Club books I missed so I can get my fix on this series. If you enjoy a fast paced, entertaining historical romance then you won’t want to miss Sara Bennett’s installment in her acclaimed Husband Hunters Club.
