Todd heads out into the forest for a week’s vacation camping alone. He’s really looking forward to the peace and quiet and calm. Until he finds a dead body. Max and Todd have been friends for many years but something always seems to get in the way of them developing a relationship with each other. Right now it’s a dead body. And possibly a murderer.

This is a very enjoyable story. The two main characters are interesting people who the reader cares about. The secondary characters have personalities as well and the main characters’ interaction with some of them is an excellent addition to the story. The small-town feel of the setting is very realistic yet not overdone. The way Todd’s attitude to being alone changes is very well drawn indeed and readers will really relate to the changes in his emotions about it.

I would term the sex as “MM lite”. Yes the men are interested in each other and yes they care about each other, but the sex scenes are brief and understated leaving the reader to fill in the gaps with their imaginations.

The book is mostly clean from a grammatical viewpoint although there are a few times where dialogue tags have been incorrectly capitalized and one place where a loose thread was never tied up or explained.

Overall the story is intriguing and well written and the men engaging. The story is fast-paced, encouraging the reader to read it in a sitting instead of putting it down, for which the author needs to be congratulated.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
