When Sheila is stood up by her blind date, she stays drinking in the bar. Later on, a stranger, not the date, joins her. Sheila is a wolf. Bruce is a moose. Despite logic, the pheromones between them are irresistible. Then it turns out they’re supposed to work together on a smuggling case.

This book is part of the multi-author SOS series about the U.S. Dept. of Fish and Wildlife, Special Outreach Services Division, which investigates crimes involving shifters. It’s a nifty idea and I’ll definitely be looking for more books in this series.
I really enjoyed this story. It’s a clever premise, interesting world building, a dash of danger, two intriguing characters and includes several excellent laugh-out-loud lines. In this particular book the whole concept of a wolf and a moose getting it together is delightfully different and just a touch outrageous. That tongue-in-cheek attitude carries through the story giving it an extra twist to charm readers.

Because it’s such a short book, only 9000 words, and includes two hot sex scenes, there isn’t a lot of wordage left for other types of detail, but what there is has been sketched in well. We get clear and appealing views of our main characters, and a taste of drama, excitement, and trouble with the plot. All in all, the author has balanced everything very well and the book was a great short read. I absolutely enjoyed it.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
