TWO-1/2 HEARTS

Out of work, but not out of ambition, Destiny Burnside spends her days job hunting at her local library.  But it’s not only job hunting on her mind.  Sexy Hefin Thomas, a local woodcarver offers a shoulder to lean on.  It’s not just his Welsh accent that attracts her.  Nor just his good looks.  He’s a good guy who is there for her.  But he’s not there for the long haul—he’s due to return home to Wales.  While he wants to bring Des home with him, it’s just not in the cards.  Or is it?

I picked this book up and started it any number of times and just couldn’t get into it.  I finally made a commitment to read it over a vacation.

There was a lot of telling without much showing until Des and Hefin tumbled into bed over and over again.  LIVE, book 2 of Mary Ann River’s Burnside series, isn’t billed as erotica and it’s not really what I’d consider erotica—it’s more of a contemporary romance with a lot of sex.  And that’s fine if there’s a substantive story to go along with it.

Hefin is a nice guy.  A good guy trying to do the right thing.  He’s not your normal alpha male which is nice for a change of pace.

Des is doing all the right things and is the kind of person who would be a good friend.  The story just didn’t click for me.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
