The first in Nalini Singh’s new Psy-Changeling Trinity series spin-off, SILVER SILENCE, is a story of physic girl meets alpha bear shifter that is at times amusing, at times aggravating and every time engrossing.

Silence has fallen and a new peace accord, the Trinity Accord, has been signed by all three groups: the Psy, the Changelings and the Human Alliance.  But not everyone is happy with the accord.  Psy Silver Mercant, who has chosen to remain silent, plays a key role as director of the new worldwide emergency network. 

 

Valentin Nikolaev, alpha of the StoneWater Bears, is determined to make Silver his mate.  There is just something about her that has him climbing buildings just to be near her.  But when an assassin nearly succeeds in ending Silver’s life by poisoning her, Valentin takes the threat very seriously and moves Silver into the heart of his bear clan while he and her family search for the assassin.

 

Valentin and Silver’s pairing may be the oddest love match these books have seen so far.  These two are almost complete opposites.  Silver embraces silence, while Valentin embraces chaos.  Still, this romance has got to be one of the most amusing and enchanting of Singh’s books.  SILVER SILENCE is filled to the brim with excitement, danger, tricks and triumph.  The characters are constantly evolving over the course of the story.  And although the storyline is on the slightly weaker side, the writing is top shelf and well-paced in spite of being written from multiple points of view (a difficult task for any writer in this reader’s opinion).

 

If you are a fan of Nalini Singh’s psy-changeling books, SILVER SILENCE will be a welcome addition to your collection.
