FIVE HEARTS

Grace Sinclair has it all—she’s intelligent, creative, beautiful and has not one but two jobs she loves.  Successful both as an author and an FBI profiler she doesn’t want or need much else in her life, including a steady beau.  In fact, the idea of even waking up next to a man is not only the furthest thing on her mind, but something she actively avoids.  And least of all does she want to rekindle that one night she had with D.C. cop Gavin Walker.

Gavin Walker comes from a law enforcement family.  It never entered his mind to be anything but a cop unless it was to become an FBI agent.  He’s also a one woman man and there is one woman he never forgot or got over.  When Grace Sinclair again crosses his past he knows without a doubt she is the only woman he wants in his life.

Before he and Grace can even begin to explore their past and what may have gone wrong they are called to a murder scene.  On the heels of the first murder there is a second and with chilling clarity Grace begins to notice some tells that lead her to conclude they are dealing with a serial killer.  It soon becomes clear that the killer has one very specific target in mind and the race is on to find him before another murder is committed.

I really enjoyed Tess Diamond’s first book in her O’Connor and Sinclair series, DANGEROUS GAMES.  She out does herself in her latest, SUCH A PRETTY GIRL.  I’m glad I started this one on a Friday night because I couldn’t put it down, stayed up late reading it and bypassed anything else that didn’t have to be done until I finished the book.  What a great story!  Diamond takes you into the mind of a serial killer through a strong, intelligent and really likeable heroine.

Grace is not only someone you would want on your side if you needed police protection.  She is someone you’d like to have for a friend.  Gavin is one of those quietly hot men who, although really good looking, has a personality that makes him one of the good guys and then some.

The story is a fast-paced white knuckle ride.  More than once I found myself holding my breath while Grace navigated the way to catch the killer.  Even when she realizes who it is she relies on her smarts and skill to solve the crime but not before her own life is on the line.

While part of a series SUCH A PRETTY GIRL can be read as a standalone.  You don’t want to miss DANGEROUS GAMES either and they can be read out of order.  But either way you don’t want to miss either really fantastic read.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
