Wayne cannot stand by and watch his partner and best friend throw his life away. Something is wrong, and it is affecting Ellis and his job. When Ellis finally puts them in danger one too many times Wayne takes action but will his attraction to Ellis bring everything crashing down? Little does Wayne know that Ellis harbors his own secrets along with his demons. Will Ellis ever trust Wayne enough to let him in? Only when Wayne knows the whole truth will he be able to help Ellis. Can their friendship endure and become stronger or will Ellis let his demons win? So many questions and so many risks but Wayne must take those risks if he wants to help Ellis.

Ellis and Wayne’s story is full of emotions and depth. Wayne has never hidden the fact that he was gay, what he hid was his feelings for Ellis. When Wayne decides to help Ellis, secrets are revealed and both men must make some hard choices. Their story is a wonderful beginning to this spin off series from Collars and Cuffs. Ellis and Wayne are great friends and make a good couple. I enjoyed their journey to finding something deeper for the two. Their story is intense, and emotions run high throughout the book. Love is strong, but trust is hard earned. These two men go through so much and through it all they never stop loving one another. It was nice to see Wayne and Ellis fight so hard to find their happy ever after.

I also loved seeing Eli and Jarod and catching up on some of the characters from the previous series. It was nice to see Jarod and Eli find their own feet as well. Narrator Joel Leslie breathes life into these characters and had me quickly lost in their adventure.
