Seventy-seven years ago four young women…one a fourteen teenaged
girl, met under a full moon. They formed a club—the High Tide Club. But they promised so much more. They promised to be friends for life…and then
some. But as happens in life, despite
years of friendship, the foursome drifted apart. Now, at 99 years of age and dying of end
stage lung cancer, Josephine has decided it is time to make amends to her old
friends. To do so she summons Brooke
Trappnell to her island, Talisa, and asks the young attorney to do certain
things. Brooke begins the process of
contacting the friends and for those who have passed on, their
descendants. One of them turns out to be
Brooke’s own mother. As secrets are
revealed, people from Brooke’s own past return to her life. Bit by bit, truths
are come to light and at the same time, new friendships are forged.
I haven’t read a Mary Kay Andrews in some time and it’s been too
long. THE HIGH TIDE CLUB is one of those
reads that has something for everyone. A
little romance, a mystery, some history, great characters and several stories
wonderfully woven into one. With each
new character that came along a new story began to unfold, each more compelling
than the one before. Andrews ties them
altogether in fabulous style and storytelling.
This is an objective review and not an endorsement of
this book.
