Paranormal investigator, Kira Bedwell visits Scotland as a graduation gift. It has been the land of her dreams and she can’t pass up a chance to investigate a ruined castle. Unknowingly she steps into a magic portal and sees the man of her dreams. He is at the bottom of some steps, there one minute gone the next.
Clan Chief Aidan MacDonald is surprised by the oddly dressed visitor, and finds he can’t get her out of his mind. They continue to appear in each others dreams, until Kira visits Scotland to investigate some odd paranormal happenings.
Kira and Aidan fall deeply in love and there is nothing in their way but a small matter of about seven hundred years. When she travels back believing her beloved will die in the upcoming altercation, they find a way to change the near future. Not to forget, a maniacal relative bent on murder and revenge. However, nothing will stand in the way when a love like theirs will last throughout the ages.
Be prepared to step back in time with the heroine, to see Scotland as it truly is. Smell the heather and peat fires from the crofters' huts as the mist rises in the Highlands. Aidan MacDonald is a true hero, everything a medieval clan chieftain should be. He treats women with all the tenderness and compassion a woman would ever want.
There are several plot twists that leave the reader guessing, lots of action to keep up the pace and tender moments, plus hot sensual tension and love scenes to heat up a cold night. The love story is the main focus, poignant in parts, but very satisfying, with some hilarity. There are battles of the past and some very interesting secondary characters throughout. Kira brings some modern ideas to the clan, which turns into interesting battles of words. From the moment Aidan’s clan wants to burn Kira as a witch until the final battle, readers will be enchanted.
Allie Mackay provides an entreating time travel romance which this reviewer really enjoyed.
