Shannon’s temper always lands her into trouble with her superiors at the academy, but fortunately she gets a second chance after her latest mishap. Her new assignment is to stop a French assassin, who targets the family of a British ballistic expert. She is happy with this assignment till she learns that it is a joint venture between the British and Russian intelligence and that she is to work together with Alexandr Orlov, her personal nemesis. Soon they rub each other the wrong way and the sparks are flying between them. Now they have to find a way to deal with their personal feelings and to follow their order to protect the family.
Ms. Pickens delivers in SEDUCED BY A SPY an action-filled romance, full of sensual as well as suspenseful moments, plus a lot of humor. The story reminds me of a Regency version of a mix of Mission Impossible and Charlie’s Angel. The reader’s interest is caught from the first page onward and you won’t be able to put the book down till you reach the last page. It kept me up all night, so see that you will have enough time to really enjoy the book.
Shannon is a real kick-ass heroine who loves to show Alexandr that she is a meek miss, but that she knows her way around horses, weapon etc. It’s fun to watch how the sparks are flying between them, especially when she learns that she has to work together with him.
SEDUCED BY A SPY is the second book of the Merlin’s Maiden trilogy, which started with THE SPY WORE SILK, but there is no problem to read SEDUCED BY A SPY as a stand-alone. Although I can tell you that you will definitely want to pick up her previous releases.
SEDUCED BY A SPY is definitely a keeper and I can highly recommend the book to everyone who is looking for a unique and unusual Regency romance.
