SEDUCED BY DARKNESS is the second book in this author’s delightful new series. The writing is fast, tight and draws the reader into a world where vampires are fighting an ancient evil bent on conquering the world. Set in the mystical town of New Orleans, Ms. Devlin creates a story that promises to keep the reader on its toes and gasping for more once the last page is read.
Meet vampire Nicholas Montfaucon. He has spent the past eight hundred years dedicated to keeping an ancient evil from rising from hell except now a raging storm has unleashed it and life as everyone knows is about to get bumpy. Only one person can help Nicholas destroy this creature and it will take all they have to end “The Devourer” reign of terror. Chessa Tomas is a policewoman who patrols the seedy side of the underworld at night. Chessa wants nothing to do with Nicholas or his kind yet she is drawn to him in a way that will either unleash her most hidden desires or destroy her in the end. Wow these two have some serious sparks flying when they come onto the pages. This reviewer was definitely rooting for them to get together and defeat the evil “Devourer” and win the day. Nicholas is a perfect alpha male vamp, all sexy personified and determined to get Chessa to open up and let her secret fantasies come out with him. Chessa is determined to not succumb to Nicholas’s seductive wiles but man, is she tempted though. Strong, independent but vulnerable, she is a heroine who had this reviewer rooting for as she went toe to toe with Nicholas. These two characters as well as other secondary characters rounded out a story that had this reviewer longing to know more.
Multi-Faceted characters, a tight and fast storyline, Ms. Devlin delivers a one-two punch that has this reviewer scrambling to grab the first book, Into the Darkness, to see how it all begins. With her signature writing style, Ms. Devlin captures the readers’ imagination from the first page and doesn’t let it go until the last page is read. All this reviewer can say is: When is the next one out? Get ready as you get SEDUCED BY DARKNESS and discover the world in New Orleans that you never knew before.
