Camden and Gigi, Lord and Lady Tremaine have been separated for ten years – the entire length of their marriage which ended on their wedding night. It has been an arrangement that has worked for them but Gigi wants a divorce. She has met a man she wishes to marry. Camden will give her the divorce if she gives him the heir he desires.

Gigi and Cam have both made mistakes but they can’t seem to forget each other. Gigi is a wickedly smart woman. She has made a life for herself after her disastrous wedding night. Gigi has she lived her life the best she could. She tries to reach out to Cam but he turns away from her. Cam is just alright as the hero. He wasn’t impressive and frankly, at times he was a jerk. His refusal to discuss, forgive and subsequent treatment of Gigi was very annoying. It is no wonder she looked for love from other men. Yes, she has had lovers in the past ten years but so has her husband. This is rare in historical romances as it is usually the man who indulges while separated. The wife is usually waiting patiently and piously for her husband’s return. This reader applauded her. It was hard to imagine them having a happy ending but the author does get there. There is intense chemistry between the two and the reader knows that love is still exists. My only quibble with the book, we would have wanted some more groveling from Cam since Gigi does her fair share of it.

PRIVATE ARRANGEMENTS is a well-written and engaging novel. The author made good use of the movement between the past/present to inform the reader on what had happened to cause the present situation. The dialogue is crisp and the story will pull the reader in. Cam and Gigi will definitely elicit strong opinions – love them or hate them – they are memorable. PRIVATE ARRANGEMENTS is a strong and powerful first book by a debut author. I look forward to her next one!
