After he has experienced the horrors of Iraq, ex-SEAL Zach Tremayne returns to his hometown in South Carolina, where he can’t forget the horrors of the war.
Sabrina Swann returns to recover from a terrorist attack on the Italian hotel where she worked. When those two meet again, the feelings they had for each other in their youth flare to new heights. Everything could be perfect if there wasn’t a serial killer running around in their hometown and it looks like Sabrina might be on his hit list.

Great start of a new Romantic Suspense/ Ex-Military trilogy. This book definitely keeps its readers on the edge of their chairs. There is just one fact that I disliked a little bit and that is the too detailed introduction of the secondary characters, who you begin to like and then they get killed by the sick killer.

The similar horrors, that the main characters lived through and the resulting PTSD brings Sabrina and Zach on the same emotional level, but it doesn’t make the blossoming relationship easy for them. What starts out as an affair grows pretty fast into something much more serious.

Zach is the typical archetype of an Alpha male military hero, who is formed by his past experience, which made him realize how short life could be and how precious it is. He is one of those tortured heroes you just want to do anything for to heal them.

This book got me absolutely hooked on the series and I can hardly wait to read the sequel which will be released in September ’08.

I can recommend this book to all fans of romantic suspense book with military/e-military heroes!
