Mark Langford is in town to find his dear friend’s murderer. He has reason to suspect Sebastian Jameston of the terrible deed. Perhaps he can use Cassie as a means to get a close up look into the Jameston household and gather the evidence he needs to put this cruel and devious man behind bars where he belongs.
Cassandra Stover is looking for a job to help provide for her mother and her sister. She is over come with gratitude when she is hired by a wealthy elderly woman to be her live in companion. Mrs. Jameston’s son is less than thrilled to find his mother is not as compliable as she was when she was alone. Now, Cassie fears for her employer and dear friend’s life…as well as her own!
I just can not express how much I enjoyed this book. The characters are believable and well rounded. The prose flows smoothly without any dull or sluggish spots to bore the reader. And the plot is exciting and keeps you turning the pages.
Our leading lady is an endearing character. Cassie only wishes to see her mother and sister taken care of and her employer, who has become a dear friend, safe from a vindictive son who holds no affection for his own mother. You will go with Cassie as she agrees to help our leading man, Mark find the proof they need to bring Sebastian to justice. It is sweet how their attraction for each other blossoms into true love.
A LADY OF SECRET DEVOTION is a phenomenal book that I would highly recommend to any historical romance fan. Author Tracie Peterson has penned a fast paced and intriguing tale as only she can do. This reader is a huge fan of Ms Peterson and A LADY OF SECRET DEVOTION surely does not disappoint!
