Sue Finley is a murder mystery writer, who suddenly has her world turned upside down. Divorced from a cross-dresser and desperately trying to break up with a podiatrist, she ends up with Detective Jason Dodd on her doorstep. She also has eccentric grand-parents and an even more odd mother, who loves interfering in her life.

Sue has begun to worry, as the evidence in her latest as yet unpublished book becomes real as it is happening to her. Jason was abandoned as a child and brought up in an endless string of foster homes. His commitment to women has boiled down to a different one every couple of weeks. Deep down he wants love, but seems to be eternally denied. While making himself Sue’s protector, he finds his protective armor eroding away, but Sue isn’t willing to trust any male with her love again.

This is a delightfully crazy tale of murder, mayhem, messy happenings and mixed up people. The characters are delightful, from the burnt cookie granny, the leering cops, an Elvis impersonator, and the mother with a groin sniffing dog. This story will brighten anyone’s wet, cold day. Even the clothing made me grin, as the heroine wears a different pair of animal pajamas each night, and her mother has re-discovered her cleavage.

Threats are sent in odd ways and a mysterious car pops up to follow them, before disappearing. As the threats become more personal, Jason’s colleagues almost queue up to protect Sue, until it almost turns into a burlesque. But then the reader follows closely as he tries to catch the girl, before the stalker does. Then as in all good romances the handsome hero always gets his man, and impresses his girl.

I too have this to read. Just got it! I was told these are great reads of hers, not sure of the order of any of her books, but great review too!
