MacKayla Lane went from frothy pink to dark black after she went to Ireland. There, her sister was murdered, she’s found out that she comes from a bloodline of powerful sidhe-seers, she’s got a death-by-sex Fae after her, she’s got a mysterious, enigmatic man as a mentor for her new life and she lives with revenge. Yes, Mac’s life has done a complete turn around. She’s able to sense ancient Fae artifacts and Barron, Mac’s mentor uses her to find them. It seems everyone is after a very special book and if they are not after the book, they are after Mac, wanting her dead. She’s had to risk her life so many times and almost lose it a couple of times, but somehow, Barron or V’lane usually shows up just in time. She’s learning not to trust anyone. Especially those who say they want to help her. She’s warned off Barron, but he’s the only one who really helps her.

This is the second book in what looks like a very exciting series. I haven’t read the first one, but the prologue in this one was very helpful in skimming over the main facts so that I wasn’t lost while reading. Karen Marie Moning has done a wonderful job in giving her readers a really dark, chilling story with a heroine who is very realistic, full of flaws but basically very brave and determined to revenge her sister’s death. Some of the scenes in this story really gave me the shivers and that was very good! Some of the scenes in this story got me frustrated as Ms Moning keeps the romance very much on the back burner and the simmering sexual tension just keeps simmering away. The story kept me turning the pages and loathing to put it down and I can hardly wait for the next book. I will certainly get the first one too. Go get them now!
