Lies, spies, trickery and untruths set the stage for Sharon Cullen’s DECEPTION, a romantic suspense that can not be put down.

The excitement starts on the very first page when Kate McAuley finds the love of her life, who has been missing for eighteen torturously long months, badly injured and passed out on her doorstep. Kate is an interesting heroine. She has struggled for almost two years to pull her life back together after her love suddenly disappears from her life, leaving her wondering if he left her or died a mysterious death. Then Lucas shows up on her doorstep in need of help and it quickly becomes apparent that he can’t trust anyone but Kate for that help. But believing his ridiculous story and agreeing to help is going to take a large leap of faith on her part.

Lucas Barone should never have gotten involved with Kate in the first place. But he did and now she may be the one person he can turn to that his enemies and employers may not know about. She is also the last person Lucas wants to involve in the danger that is his life. And yet he has and it has Lucas torn between want and fear for Kate.

The storyline has many twists and turns and the suspense continues to build from first page to last. Lucas Barone may be used to the cloak and dagger life, but for Kate, getting shot at and chased is most definitely not something she is used to or comfortable with. The resulting tension between the characters leads to some very heated moments. To get to the bottom of this mystery, Kate and Lucas have to peel back the many layers of trickery and DECEPTION while trying to keep one step ahead of the villains that want to see them dead.

Though there are a few storyline inconsistencies and moments of disbelief, Sharon Cullen manages to pen a suspenseful and heart stopping romance in DECEPTION that keep readers glued to the story from explosive start to finish.
