Ian and Braden Thomas were on a mission that went very wrong and now find themselves literally turning into predatory animals with very little warning. And even though it appears that a teammate has betrayed them, they have given their word to protect the sister from the evil that turned them into science experiments.

Katie Buchanan may just be the key to the cure for Ian and Braden. But they have to get to Katie before a madman bent on revenge can find her. And since Katie has serious trust issues, deciding whether to believe the brothers’ claim that her dead brother sent them or if they are in cahoots with the madman that is closing in on her is going to take some time. As they chase after Katie trying to gain her trust, they find themselves uncontrollably lusting after their charge. Time is running out as Katie tries to figure out who to trust and Ian and Braden struggle with using Katie as a pawn to get what they want.

Ian and Braden are strong, honorable and admirable heroes. They are ready and willing to fight anyone who tries to harm the woman they are finding is far more than just an assignment. While Katie calls to both their beasts, they struggle with accepting her into both their lives while trying to protect her from the unpredictable nature of the beasts they turn into.

Katie is both strong and needy at the same time. She has been taught self defense by her brother and she isn’t afraid to use it. At the same time, trust and love are something Katie has very little experience with and the confusion that comes from that often has her making bad choices. As she starts to rely on the brothers and opens herself to their love, the resulting multiple partner sex scenes are positively combustible.

This fast paced storyline is fraught with villains and twisting plotlines that will get the heart pumping. Just when it appears to readers that the story is figured out, something or someone pops up and the story takes yet another direction.

The only stumbling block this reader had with this book was that once Katie has explored her carnal side with both brothers separately and then together, the sex scenes become something you sort of skim through to get back to the action of the storyline. That said, once the storyline gets back on track, Maya Banks really delivers by answering all the questions that have been raised and wraps up the story in a very thorough manner.

INTO THE LAIR definitely showcases the clever, adventurous and imaginative writing style that Maya Banks has come to be known by. Fans of paranormal romance and intrigue will not want to miss out on this exciting series.
