Daniel Vega always thought he was a misfit as a human. Now a vampire, he has been thrown to the wolves, literally by his maker, Chaos and he has been determined to now leave Jacob’s Den. Until one day, a firecracker of a woman literally runs into him. Starla Raine is a witch and has been able to manage her powers all her life. Determined to end the spell that causes darkness to reign over Jacob’s Den, she never expects to meet Daniel Vega, the one man who is connected somehow to the infamous spell and using any means necessary, she will get that spell….no matter what it takes.
This is the fourth book in THE DARKNESS SERIES (the first is a free read on the publisher site) and I was a bit lost as characters were mentioned who had earlier stories. Full of intriguing characters, fast paced, this author has a wonderful way with words. I highly enjoyed the banter between Daniel and Starla. It made me laugh and sigh with pleasure, especially as Starla is no weak willed miss either. She is one proud, strong heroine who keeps Daniel under her spell…..literally. Add in some interesting secondary characters, a few subplots to keep the storyline moving and you have the making of one series you don’t want to miss.
I highly recommend reading the first four books (Surrender to Darkness-prequel, Seducing the Darkness, Desiring the Darkness & Embracing the Darkness) in order to get a sense of who the characters are because they are mentioned throughout and have some part in CHARMING THE DARKNESS. I definitely plan to grab these first three as it made me wonder about the back story of the other secondary characters. If you highly enjoy a vampire story that has quick wit, fast pacing and strong characters, then grab CHARMING THE DARKNESS. You will chuckle along as Starla does more to Daniel then he ever thought.
