Captain Scott Boulder is fighting against the bloodlust he has acquired since his fight with the vampire Andre Espinoza de Madrid. A vampire, who is thankfully dead. Or is he? Together with Leah Maguire, they embark on a deadly mission to capture genetically altered subjects who have escaped. These are government experiments gone wrong and Scott fears that he too, will soon be among them. Leah has faith in him and he has friends who are willing to help him. One of these subjects is Rachel Ackart. She is powerful, beautiful and under Andre's influence. Andre has led her to believe she can bring back her old lover, but it is himself he wants to bring back. If that happens, then death and destruction will visit the earth. Scott and Leah have to stop her and even though their attraction for each other spirals, they know that the main mission is to save the world.

This was an exciting read. These two talented authors have corroberated to give their readers a truly creepy thrilling read. I know I was hanging onto the edge of my seat and couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I loved the two main characters. Leah is an empath and is able to defend herself with magic. Scott is tortured by the fact that he has been contaminated, but is valiantly holding his own and keeps his eyes on the goal. There are lots of breathtaking moments when you think it's all over and there are some very tender moments when Leah and Scott give in to their passion. There are lots of secondary characters who give the story life and depth. If you enjoy darker stories that thrill and chill, you will certainly like this one. Now I have to go pick up the first one to see how it all began.
