G J Woodrum is truly a talented story teller of the epic fantasy. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and its scope and depth thrilled me. I especially liked that her characters all had their strengths and weaknesses, even Yhnez, who is touched by the Goddess makes mistakes. I found it very exciting reading about the journeys, trials and tribulations and victories of the Children of the Dessert Moon as well as the other characters that have been introduced to this story. This master story teller draws you into the story and you can imagine the heat, the sand, the despair, hunger and thirst that these characters endure. Then there is the viciousness of the verritaym’i. There is no holding back on the violence of this terrible race of beings who rage through the book. The children all become older, wiser and the awakenings of adult feelings are starting to surface. All this and more make for a wonderful read. If you enjoy epic fantasy and are tired of the Tolkien type fantasy, pick up this book and be ready for a truly wonderful time.
