Charlize ‘Charlie’ Edwards seems to be on the up and up. She’s the personal assistant to one of Hollywood’s top movie stars, Drew Stanton, she’s got two best friends, a great house and a new, sexy boyfriend, Jordan. She’s writing a book of advice for her future great-granddaughter. She seems to be having trouble following the advice herself. Jordan takes a job abroad and it seems as if their relationship is cooling off. Drew is causing chaos on the movie set and Charlie’s eccentric family is arriving in L.A. for the thanksgiving holidays. While the cat’s away, the mice will play as they say, and while Charlie is miserably waiting for Jordan’s calls and text messages, Drew’s new producer is making Charlie’s heart go pitty-pat.
This is the sequel to Kim Gruenenfelder’s ‘A Total Waste of Makeup’ and I must say, she certainly knows how to write a very witty, funny story. There are tons of great one-liners in this book that will put a big smile on your face. They certainly made me laugh out loud! Ms. Gruenenfelder writes quirky, eccentric, hilariously funny characters that you will truly enjoy. I particularly enjoyed the advice column about men that Jamie is writing. You could say this story is like Sex In The City goes to Hollywood. I did enjoy reading it, but it is not something I would normally pick up for my own personal enjoyment. I’m sure though, that there are many of you out there who will definitely enjoy this very cleverly written tale.
