CLICK TO PURCHASE! Donna Kidwell knew she was different, especially when her mysterious past comes to light after her adoptive parents die. Turning her back on a past she has no clue about, she tries ignore the obvious attraction she has for the mysterious Arkan, a man who stirs things in her that has her confused and longing for more. Arkan has waited 21 long years for Donna and when he finds her engaged to another and determined not to ignore her future as his mate and to save Culatheed, he finds he has to accept Donna’s fiancé Ethan as well since time is running out. Can Arkan, Ethan and Donna forge a bond strong enough to fight off the Gwylla and save the Fae from certain doom?
ARKAN’S BRIDE is an interesting tale that could have been a bit better. The characters were good, interesting and very explosive together but I felt a sense of disconnection with them. Why should I feel for Arkan and the Fae? This kept running thru my head while I read ARKAN’S BRIDE and even though it does have some really tender and emotional scenes, I was just not that excited over the cast of characters. Plus the story is short and I feel it could be a bit longer with a more fleshed out storyline to answer the above question better.
It opens with a scene of Donna being placed with the human world after being threatened by the Gwylla. Fast forward to the present and you meet Donna and Ethan, a couple who try to work through their shared grief of Donna losing her adoptive parents and then the shocker- Donna is not who she thinks she is. Send in Arkan of the Fae who is mysterious and captivates Donna though she has no idea why. I enjoyed the way these three interacted with each other but I wanted Donna to be a bit stronger against Arkan. Maybe it was me and the mood I was in but her easy caputilation to Arkan’s plan to take her to Culatheed and find her past that is entwined with her future had me gnashing my teeth and trying not to hit her in the head and yell “Wise up!” The story has potential but for myself, I wanted something a bit meatier so to speak. The sex scenes were sensual and flowed nicely but it couldn’t save the story itself. This was a new author to read for me and inspite of a few plot and character struggles, the story was intriguing to have me reading till the last page.
ARKAN’S BRIDE is an interesting story with some intriguing characters but I feel it has more potential if the characters were a bit more multidimensional and the storyline fleshed out a bit more. If you enjoy a quick story to enjoy then ARKAN’S BRIDE may be for you.
