Lillian Chance was a kid she met the one man who would show her the sweetness of a summer friendship that turned to a first love. A bond that spans the years, Lil and Cooper Sullivan find themselves each summer enjoying the long summer days until they stumble upon a dead body and that process, changes their lives forever. Lil is steadfast in her dreams of opening a refuge center and Cooper follows the family legacy into law. The Black Hills are calling Lil and Chance back home and for these two, life is about to get messy as they try to find out who is trying to keep secrets hidden in the BLACK HILLS.
Ms. Roberts is this reviewer’s favorite author and she doesn’t disappoint in her latest suspense filled novel, BLACK HILLS. Here she introduces the readers to the Black Hills of South Dakota and two people who must work together to find out who is trying to keep them silent on a murder years old. I highly enjoyed BLACK HILLS and even though I normally don’t read many of the suspense filled stories, BLACK HILLS delivers some wonderful moments that had me going “OH MY GOD!” I highly enjoyed the way Lil and Cooper evolved from summer buddies to first loves and Ms. Roberts definitely delivers some intriguing characters to keep you interested till the end. What I didn’t like about BLACK HILLS was it dragged on a bit in the middle making it at times, a little tedious to read until the action picked up again and you get sucked back into the BLACK HILLS.
Ms. Roberts is a prolific author who writes some complex and intriguing stories for her readers. I enjoyed BLACK HILLS but felt it could have been a bit tighter in the middle where it dragged on but otherwise if you enjoy a tight suspense filled novel that will keep you guessing, then grab BLACK HILLS.
