This is a collection of short stories about love, life and hope. We start in Houston with Kimmy and Greg. It’s only days after they’ve lost their baby, and they are looking for a new place to live. Then we meet Casey, whose husband died in 9/11. She meets Kent, who also lost his wife in 9/11. The next story follows the life of Lola. How her boyfriend left her for Miss Montana. How she becomes a wife and moves to Saudi Arabia. Her fears of terrorism, her hopes for a family. We also meet her mother who only has her hairdresser as a friend, and her father, who lives on a diet of cigars and cheese and has been divorced three times, and is looking for true love.
Amanda Eyre Ward has written some very emotional and hopeful stories about very real people and their fears, hopes and dreams. These stories are full of in-depth characters, sharp-witted dialogue and themes that are very real in these times. These tales are gripping and I can guarantee that you will not be able to put this book down. I read it in one sitting and was enthralled. These are stories that will reach the heart of every woman, as they deal with issues that are usually not taken seriously, but are shown to be very important to her characters. This highly talented author takes the mundane and proves how these things can shape our lives and become very important. I can recommend this book of short stories if you like to read something a bit more serious.
