Sabrina has just come back from the Miss USA pageant where she did not even make it beyond the first round eliminations. Can you believe it? They called her thighs chunky! Now the job as the spokesperson for a school for injured children is not so definite under that bit of bad press. But if she were engaged to the next governor then she was sure to get the job, as the school needs funding. What is just one little white lie? Oh, did she mention that she and Jake Warrington have a past…and it’s not so good?
She wants to tell the world what?! He has to admit that it would solve his problem of past scandal, to be engaged to a woman who is responsible. It would give him a lot of credibility if she supported him. But can they put their past history aside and come to each other’s aid for just a few weeks and act like they at least like each other?
I have always been a fan of Harlequin books and this one does not disappoint. The characters are multi-dimensional and are realistic. Sabrina is Jake’s ex-girlfriend…and several years ago she turned Jake’s father in for taking a bribe while he was still in office as governor. That was the end of an already rocky relationship. But the reader gets to watch as Sabrina struggles to over come that and mature from a spoiled brat into a responsible and independent woman. I couldn’t help but applaud her motivations, if not the dishonesty of telling the whole state a lie in order to get what she wanted.
I loved this book! It is the best contemporary romance that I have read in a long time. When you read HER SO-CALLED FIANCE you will not be able to put it down, you will be anxiously turning the pages to find out what could possibly happen next.
