After her parents died, Jacobin de Chastelux grew up in the household of her Uncle, Lord Candover. She found him to be a cold and uncaring man, but the servants made up for this especially the French pastry cook, Jacob Leon, who was a mentor. When she learns her uncle has sold her to pay off a debt, Jacob helps her to escape. Using her culinary skills and a disguise, she finds herself in the royal kitchen as Jane Castle. Learning her uncle has been poisoned by some of the left over food, she flees again, knowing she will be the first suspect.
Anthony, Earl of Storrington, is set on revenge against the dissolute Candover, and unknowingly, employs Jane Castle to entice him to his estate. Against all his instincts Anthony is drawn toward Jane, while knowing nothing about her. The delicious food she makes, entices him in ways he can’t understand and Jane finds herself falling for him too. The only thing in the way of happy ever after is the secrets they both have.
NEVER RESIST TEMPTATION is Miranda Neville’s debut novel and a delightfully different type of romp, with delicious food which almost takes on the form of a character in its own right especially the rose Bavarian cream. The author has a very vivid imagination as food is used as part of the seduction techniques, and in the hands of the skilled pastry cooks tempts the jaded palates of royalty and commoner alike. The wonderful descriptions bring the feasts to life as feather light pastry with a myriad of toppings tempts the reader. The plot is intricate, with plots within plots, but skillfully written so the reader can follow the trail easily as the characters are captivating. Murder, mayhem, house-breaking, scandal and sexual intrigue abound, as the hero and heroine try to keep ahead of the villains. The heroine seems to have nine lives as she dodges through the city and country estates, making this a very interesting book if you enjoy, hot sexual scenes, food and romance mixed with intrigue.
