Welcome to Liena Ferror's guest blog!
Welcome Ms. Liena Ferror to Love Romances and More, thank you for joining us.
Did you always want to become a writer?
I actually didn’t become interested in writing until roughly two and half years ago. I’m an avid reader. My nose was always buried in a book. My husband made a comment that I read so much that I could probably write a book. Two and a half years later, my first story is due to be published in November.
What is the most, and the least interesting fact about writing?
The most interesting fact of writing is research. I love the paranormal and any chance I have to delve into some aspect of it, I do. There really isn’t a least interesting fact of writing. If your writing begins to bore you, you need to step away and approach it again later.
How do you plan to celebrate your first release?
I plan on celebrating with my family. Perhaps a nice dinner out the day after its release. I’ll be busy on release day getting the word out about my story being published. There will probably be some nerves involved hoping my book is well received by readers, etc…Since it’s my first release, I really don’t know what to expect. There will definitely be happiness. That I know for sure!
How did your family react to fact that you write romance novels? Have your family read your book?
Since it was my husband who planted the idea into my head, I’d say they’ve taken it very well. My husband supports me when I have my good and bad days. No one in my family reads what I write. I have a son in the Navy who isn’t into erotic romances and a daughter to young to even comprehend what erotic is, at least I hope so.
Most authors are also avid readers. Is this the case with you? If so, who are some of your favorites? Have any influenced your writing?
I like Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and JR Ward amongst the paranormal authors. Nora Roberts/JD Robb is my favorite contemporary romance author. I also like a good action adventure book and Clive Cussler is my favorite author in that genre. My bookshelves are crammed with books by too many authors to really list. All of which I would read another of their works. They’ve all influenced my writing in one way or another.
Do you feel each of your characters live with you as you write? Do their lives sometimes take over a part of your life? Can you name an example? Do you have living role models for your characters?
Yes, I do. I’ll often find myself thinking about my books and characters when I lay down and try to nap or when I go to bed at night. They don’t take over my life but they are always in my mind until I finish the book and move onto the next. As for role models, I may use certain attributes of people I know but I haven’t based a character of a singular person.
Where do you get the inspirations for your books?
Inspiration can strike me out of nowhere. Usually my ideas stem from my love of the paranormal and documentary shows on the Discovery Channel and channels like that. The idea for Queen of the Ghost Drakon came from watching a show on blood disorders and the plot evolved from there. I have notebooks full of ideas that I’ve gotten over time. As I get one that I know I may write about in the future, I write the general idea in a notebook.
Do you find it difficult at times to write love scenes?
They aren’t hard to write, at least to me. It’s just keeping the scenes fresh that becomes a challenge at times. Having the same scene repeat throughout the story makes for a boring read. Keeping it hot and fresh is the most important factor in writing a sex scene in my opinion.
Do you have a problem with deadlines and have you ever suffered a writers block?
I haven’t faced a deadline as of yet so I’m not sure how if I’d have a problem or not. I would think that I wouldn’t but that would remain to be seen.
I have had writer’s block. My mentor told me sometimes you need to step away from your work and approach it later with fresh eyes. I can say that her method works. I’ll usually grab a notebook and try to work out whatever is holding up the story, be it a rewrite or whatever. It’s worked every time.
Do you prefer stand-alone books or series (As a reader or a writer) ?
I prefer series. Both to read and write though I haven’t turned away from a stand-alone that has caught my eye. One of my favorite series has over twenty books in it and I haven’t tired of the characters yet. The stories all revolve around one couple. My series, The Risen, has two books that will be published and I just finished the rough draft of the third.
If you could change places with one character from your book, who would it be and why?
It would have to be Keara McCabe-Langon from Queen of the Ghost Drakon. She’s a woman who loves to craft, much like myself, who finds herself adapting to a rapidly changing world thanks to finding out she’d not human. I think being half dragon would be pretty awesome, again because of my love of the paranormal. I would love the ability to fly.
What is your favorite book from the books that you have written so far? Who are your favorite hero and heroine, and why?
Queen of the Ghost Drakon is my favorite because I like the hero, Gannon Langon, and the heroine, Keara McCabe-Langon the best. I like the story because in my opinion the plot is unique as are the characters. It introduces the reader into the world of The Risen, females who are half drakon or dragon and half vampire, fae, demon, or lycan which Keara is one of. Gannon is a warrior who helps Keara transition from the world of humans to the paranormal world. Queen of the Ghost Drakon will always hold a place in my heart.
Would you like to give another genre a try?
I’m considering trying romantic suspense or a contemporary in the future. I already have ideas swirling around my mind and in my notebooks for both types of romances. We will have to see what the future brings.
Which book was the hardest to write and which the easiest?
They all have the same degree of difficulty. I’ve hit snags with all three and have had to work my way around them. Some days I cruise along and on others, I find myself tapping my fingers on the keyboard hoping the words would come out.
If you could choose of your books for a movie, which one would it be and who would you as the cast?
It would be Queen of the Ghost Drakon. I would cast Lucy Liu from Charlie’s Angels as Keara and a blond haired Scott Speedman from The Underworld movies as Gannon. They would be the closest to what my characters would look like.
Do you listen to music while you are writing and if so what music is it?
I usually listen to hard rock and alternative while I’m working. I usually will turn on the radio to my favorite station and keep it there while I write.
Big congrats to your latest release, can you please tell us something about the book?
My first and latest release is Queen of the Ghost Drakon due to release November 20, 2009.
Here is the blurb:
A vampire’s ultimate fatal attraction is the essence of a ghost…
Innocent to the paranormal world and innocent to the world of men, Keara McCabe finds herself caught in a century's old battle between renegade vampires and lycans after witnessing the murder of her friend at the fangs of an immortal bloodsucker. On the other hand, the vampire barely sips her blood and dies. From that moment forward, she becomes wanted dead or alive. The vampires want her destroyed for the danger she is, the lycans want her as a weapon against all vampires.
Lycan Gannon Langon vows to protect her from both her enemies. But it’s in her arms that he finds innocence and fire, tentativeness and passion. As their desire ignites, the enemy implements a deadly plan.
Will Keara and Gannon survive to explore their new love together or will that love be destroyed?
Are you working on anything right now, and can you tell us a teaser about these projects?
The second in the series is due to release on April 16, 2010 titled Frost at Dusk. The story is about an ice drakon or dragon and vampire hybrid heroine named Lena Erickson who uses her unique and deadly blood as a weapon to avenge the death of a family member. She is the mate of the Master Vampire of the Northeast Region, Andres Kaden. Together, they learn to deal with Lena, her unique abilities, and the changes she’ll inevitably go through.
The third in the series is a story about a vampire warrior and his peace-loving demon healer/drakon or dragon mate. Their love will be tested as they struggle to find a balance between literally life and death.

Liena, love your cast choice for the movie! *grins* And like you, I need a little music in the background, though for me it's the softer soundscapes.
Nice interview.
Nice interview Liena. Do you find it difficult juggling family and new career?
Nice interview Liena. It must be difficult to juggle new career with family. How do yoiu do it?
What a wonderful interview, Liena. I learned some things about you.
Your story sounds intriguing.
J,
Lucy and Scott match my character closest in my mind when I sit and think about what my characters look like.
I need louder, faster music when I write. Then there are some times I write in complete silence. Depends on my mood.
Thanks for stopping by!
Liena~
Annie,
Excellent question! It isn't difficult at all balancing the two because I set strict times when I write which is during the day when my daughter is in school. During the summer I only spend a couple of hours writing so I have time with her. I write only during the week and take the weekends off with my family. There are times of course when my muse takes over and I do write in the evenings or over the weekend. So far, though, it's worked well for my family.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
