A gypsy curse and a sacred pledge is the beginning of THE PROMISE. The latest from TJ Bennett shares the story of Gunter Behaim, a professional soldier who is a bitter man, dealt with betrayal and makes promises he is determined to keep. When a close friend is severely wounded on the field, Gunter makes a promise that will have two people either reaching for the love that binds them or accept that they must part.

THE PROMISE is a unique story in that the setting is in 1525 Pavia, Italy and TJ Bennett creates a story full of romance, war and intriguing characters that keep the reader highly entertained. With a fast paced storyline, a cast of wonderful characters to enjoy, curses and pledges to deal with, Ms. Bennett delivers a story that will knock your socks off from the first page.

Meet Gunter Behaim, a professional soldier in service to Emperor Charles V and a man who has dealt with betrayals and deceit. Keeping the few promises he has made, Gunter has to make another one when a close friend falls in battle and he is sworn to marry and keep safe his friend’s betrothed, a Spanish beauty named Alonsa García de Aranjuéz. What he doesn’t anticipate is a woman determined to not marry and believes that a curse is on her, for all the men she loves die. Add in a secondary romance between some wonderful characters and TJ Bennett delivers some characters that jump off the pages. I loved the flawed hero and heroine in THE PROMISE. This author really knows how to get into the hearts of her characters and in a unique setting, delivers a timeless classic that will keep you flipping the pages, eager to know more. Add in some humor and nail biting adventure, THE PROMISE delivers one wild ride from start to finish.

THE PROMISE is a wonderful and engaging story that will keep the reader highly entertained as you are captivated by a story so timeless it can span the ages. If you enjoy a different sort of historical romance that isn’t set in England and some wonderfully flawed characters, then grab THE PROMISE. It is an adventure waiting for you to devour. I look forward to reading more from this author.
