WAKING NIGHTMARE, the first book in Kylie Brant’s Mindhunter series, is an intricately woven web of misdirection and mystery, phobias and forensics.

Forensic profiler Abbie Phillips has been assigned to work with Detective Ryne Robel and his task force to solve a string of recent serial rape cases. Abbie may not be what Ryne had in mind, but she is exactly what he needs. As another victim turns up, Abbie produces a profile of the rapist that shows he doesn’t just want to torture his victims; he wants them to experience their darkest fears long after his attack is over.

The psychological suspense throughout WAKING NIGHTMARE just keeps coming. The action is constantly building momentum, the clues are carefully and systematically revealed and the phobias of both the victims and the task force are delicately intertwined and vital to the search for the rapist. Add to this a disgruntled detective who does more harm than good to the case, a budding romance that neither partner is prepared for and a profiler’s traumatized and somewhat crazy sister turning up in the middle of the investigation and becoming a part of the investigation, and you have one riveting romantic suspense novel.

If like this reader, you have yet to pick up a Kylie Brant novel, now is the time. WAKING NIGHTMARE is the first of at least three, possibly more, books highlighting an elite group of forensic specialists that aid different law organizations where their skills are needed. WAKING NIGHTMARE has it all, mystery, suspense, romance, tension and a really surprising ending. Kylie Brant and WAKING NIGHTMARE have easily earned this reader’s rare five star recommendation.

THIS IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF THIS BOOK. THIS IS AN OBJECTIVE UNBIASED REVIEW.
