Cynthia has been banished from Atlanta after having been found having a breakdown in a broom closet. She has taken the job as temporary judge in a small town. She plans on being fair and honest. She isn’t about to bend the law for anyone. But not everyone is happy. Actually, most of the town hates her. And it is all Ethan’s fault.

Ethan runs a ranch for troubled teen boys. Now the eighteen-year-old son he didn’t know he had is in court in front of Judge Merritt. He wants her to sentence Sam to work on his ranch. When she doesn’t he sets out to change her mind.

HER SURPRISE HERO is the third book in Abby Gaines’ Those Merritt Girls series. I have read all three books and they are all good reads and can stand-alone. If you do a search here at Love Romances and More’s blog for Abby Gaines you will find my reviews for her first two in the series. You will not want to miss any of the stories about these three sisters.

Cynthia has great expectations for herself. Or at least her father does. Her stint in the broom closet is a blip that will actually work out well because now she will have a new entry on her resumé, that of being a judge. HER SURPRISE HERO is all about Cynthia finding who she is, not what everyone expects or wants her to be. I loved this book because we get to travel with her as she discovers herself. This is a character that I really related to.

Ethan has his heart in the right place. He loves his son and wants what is best for him. He just has a different idea of what that is than Cynthia does. I loved their bickering and snarling back and forth, totally entertaining. Ms Gaines has a talent for making believable characters, and having read all three books in this series, she also makes them individuals and unique. Very impressive.

THIS IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF THIS BOOK. THIS IS AN OBJECTIVE UNBIASED REVIEW
